Controlled Environment Agriculture Services
SGS understands how analysis plays a critical role in greenhouse and vertical farm management. Whether balancing nutrients in water/solution, identifying deficiencies in plant tissue, or monitoring potential plant pathogens, SGS can assist greenhouse operators by providing the measurements necessary for productivity. Our Guelph laboratory has various accreditations, building upon our commitment to accuracy. For plant tissue, our testing methods are ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited by Standards Council of Canada. Ensuring compliance with industry standards, we also participate in the North American Proficiency Testing Program for plant tissue analysis. We also help contractors evaluate soil for green rooftop environments.
NEW for 2026! We have launched updated Pathogen Scans covering bacteria, virus and fungi for your controlled environment agriculture and field crop business, including viability (live vs dead) reporting. These services fit into a maintenance program, can identify target pathogens (ToBRFV, Fusarium, CGMMV), and investigate the complete genome of algae, nematodes, amphibians, fish and eukaryotes. Full details and samples submission forms are ready for you here: GET to PATHOGEN PAGE HERE
Water & Nutrient Solution Analysis Our Water Complete package aids in the development of customized mixes to enhance crop development, whereas our Solution Complete package provides confirmation of the mixed fertigated water.
Media AnalysisAnalysis of the growing media is a critical step in developing a robust fertility program for the target crop.
Plant Tissue AnalysisPlant tissue analysis is a tool to monitor nutrition and diagnose deficiencies.
Pathogen ScanEarly diagnosis of pathogens lend to risk management strategies. Learn more on this advancing diagnostic tool.
